Suggestions for best image results The photo must be clear and large enough to see details. The eyes are all-important. Make sure that the eyes are clear in the photo. Dark shadowy eye sockets would end up being drawn as black shadowy areas and might be cause for rejection by the artist. The scanned image should be in at least 150ppi or 150dpi. But preferably much higher resolution, up to 1200ppi. When you view it on your screen it should take up most of the height of the screen, or preferably larger. See the example. It is around 600 x 500 pixels and about 40kb. The clarity is most important. Images that are too small, or have a low resolution, won't be suitable for copying. Click here to see an example of a lovely photo, but that was unsuitable for copying. Your image should be in JPEG (.JPG) format, with no compression applied, if possible. The original may be in black and white or color. It does not matter, as long as it is clear. Background areas will not be included in your drawing, so they do not matter, although they should contrast enough for the artist to ascertain the outline of the subject's features. If in doubt, attach a copy to an email enquiry for an opinion, before you commit to an order. There is no obligation for enquiries. |
